We work with UN Police and civilian partners to support stability, security, and peace processes; we safeguard people and property; and we work with regional security agencies and local communities to promote long-term peace.
For many of our tasks, the safety of civilians is essential. Blue Helmets protect populations from dangers and help to create a secure environment.
We must increase the number of female soldiers participating in UN peacekeeping missions.
Vital Information About UN Military Personnel
The UN has been deploying military forces for use in peace operations since 1948 when the Security Council authorized the deployment of UN military observers to the Middle East to monitor the Armistice Agreement between Israel and its Arab neighbors.
United Nations military personnel may be required to:
- safeguard civilians and UN employees;
- Monitor a disputed border;
- In post-conflict areas, keep an eye on and observe the peace processes.
- Provide security across a conflict zone;
- Provide security during elections;
- provide training and support for the military personnel stationed there
- Help former combatants who may have signed the peace agreements put them into effect.
One of the most significant changes in the UN’s 70-year history has been the multifaceted nature of its peacekeeping missions.
UN military peacekeepers are frequently stationed in hostile, remote, and perilous environments where they encounter great challenges, particularly when defending citizens from asymmetric threats.
Latest Update On The United Nations Soldiers Recruitment 2023
