About North East Development Commission
The North-East Development Commission (NEDC) is the focal organization in charge of evaluating, coordinating, harmonizing, and reporting on all intervention programs and initiatives by the Federal Government or any of its Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), States, and other Development Partners, as well as for the execution of all programs and initiatives for the North East states, specifically Adamawa, Bauchi, Borno, Gombe, Taraba, and Yobe.
The NEDC is charged with “receiving and administering funds from Federal Account allotments and international donors for the settlement, rehabilitation, and reconstruction of roads, houses, and business premises of insurgency victims as well as addressing the threat of poverty, illiteracy level, ecological problems, and any other related environmental or developmental challenges in the North-East states.”
The NEDC must also manage “the resettlement, rehabilitation, integration, and reconstruction of infrastructure for victims of terrorism as well as tackling the threat of poverty, illiteracy, ecological challenges in the North-Eastern states and other related matters,” according to the Establishment Act.
