About Bright Future Scholarships Florida
Florida Bright futures scholarship is a merit award based on high school performance. The scholarship is competitive, as your achievements make you eligible for the scholarship. The University of Central Florida offers two types of awards to students: Florida Academic Scholars Award and Florida Medallion Scholars Award.
Without the requirements, students may not enroll in the program.
Bright futures are creating a solid base for a steady economy by promoting and assisting the coming generation. The Weld County Board of Commissioners established the program in 2015 to provide financial aid to students pursuing post-secondary education or training and certification programs from a Title IV certified school because they recognize the value of academic and vocational abilities.
(FAS) Florida Academic Scholars
The Bright Futures scholarship is the highest standard of merit. For a maximum of 120 semester hours toward finishing the first baccalaureate degree, Florida Academic Scholar (FAS) winners are eligible to receive support for up to five years after high school graduation. Additionally, Florida Academic Scholars with the best GPA will get the Top Scholars Award in each country.
(FMS) Florida Medallion Scholars
Although this scholarship is not as competitive as the FAS, it still has minimum test scores and GPA criteria that are quite high. Recipients of Florida Medallion Scholars (FMS) may receive support for up to 120 semester hours toward finishing a first baccalaureate degree for five years following high school graduation.
Bright Futures Scholarship Amount
Each credit hour of the Florida Academic Scholars Award costs $212.71. For each credit hour, the Florida Medallion Scholars Award costs $159.53. The cost of the Academic Top Scholars Award per credit hour is $44.
What does Bright Scholarship Cover?
The scholarship program will cover most students’ expenses to give Bright scholars the best experience. The student gets 100% coverage on the applicable fee. Check below to see what the scholarship program covers:

Florida Bright Futures Scholarships Requirements
The two awards have their qualification criteria. So are the amount and the tenure of the scholarship program.
Browse through to see the general bright Futures Scholarship requirements:
- You must be a resident of Florida or a citizen of the U.S.
- Finish the Florida Financial Aid Application (FFAA) on August 31st, the year of your high school graduation
- Acquire a standard Florida high school diploma or its equal from a Florida public high school or a registered Florida Department of Education private school
- Not have been condemned of (or pleaded no contest to) a felony charge.
- You must be accepted and enrolled in a degree or certificate program at an eligible Florida public or independent post-secondary institution.
- Be registered for no less than six (non-remedial) credits each semester.
Satisfy all of the preceding criteria, and have a good chance of receiving your own Florida Bright Futures grants.
How To Apply For Florida Bright Futures Scholarship Program
Before August 31st, after high school graduation, students must APPLY for the scholarship by submitting the Florida Financial Aid Application (FFAA). Before early evaluation starts in February, Bright Futures advises students to submit an FFAA.
